La historia de la medicina nos enseña que el contacto manual es, quizás, la forma más antigua de cuidado de la salud. Es aquí donde la rehabilitación física deja de ser una opción secundaria para convertirse en una necesidad imperativa de salud pública.
Este texto profundiza en el concepto de que el cuerpo es una unidad funcional indivisible. A través de sus capítulos, el autor nos invita a explorar la biolología de la recuperación. No se limita a describir maniobras de masaje; analiza cómo la presión dirigida y la movilización controlada actúan sobre los mecanorreceptores cutáneos y profundos, enviando señales al sistema nervioso central capaces de modular la percepción del dolor y mejorar la propiocepción.
